Bayer celebrates 150-year anniversary by honouring Canadians’ roles in science and innovation
MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO, CANADA, June 3, 2013 – Kevin Jones, President and CEO of The Bloom Centre for Sustainability (BLOOM), was one of twenty-one Canadians who were recognized by Bayer of Canada for their individual contributions to science and innovation. Kevin received an award for his contribution to “Sustainability, Corporate Culture and Social Responsibility”. The celebration took place at the MaRS Centre in Toronto, Ontario on May 28, 2013 and was attended by distinguished members of the Canadian health, science and technology industries.The honoured recipients ranged from educators and research scientists, to leaders in business and philanthropy. The “Sustainability, Corporate Culture and Social Responsibility” award reflected the successful BLOOM initiatives, driving improved profitability, competitiveness and sustainability performance of organizations in key sectors of the economy. BLOOM achieves this by developing a “big picture” understanding of sector issues and opportunities, aligning success objectives of key stakeholders, and delivering strategic projects and programs to inform policy, investment and procurement decisions, and increase sector and organizational capacity to act.
In reaction to receiving the award, Kevin said, “I am both honoured and humbled to being selected, and view this as recognition of the talent and hard work of all my colleagues at BLOOM, and the close working relations we have established with government agencies, industry associations and other stakeholders.”
